NLC Orders Members to Shutdown Economic Activities Nationwide

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has instructed members to shutdown economic activities across the country.

NLC urged affiliates across the country to comply with its indefinite nationwide strike starting October 3, 2023.

The organized labour also instructed chapters to ensure the full compliance by inaugurating monitoring committees across the country.

Following the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held earlier today, on September 26, 2023, and the subsequent joint Press Conference with the Trade Union Congress (TUC), we are officially declaring an indefinite nationwide strike, set to commence on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 and:

“Affiliates are requested to kindly initiate mobilization efforts without delay, ensuring full compliance. Please send circulars to your members instructing them to proceed with the action and report back to the Secretariat.

“State Councils are requested to kickstart thorough preparations and establish Compliance and Monitoring Committees to ensure the strike’s success.

“We want to emphasize Congress’s unwavering dedication to the success of this action. The achievement of our goals is contingent on our collective determination to liberate our members and fellow Nigerians from the prevailing hardships imposed by regressive forces.
