Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, a former governor of Sokoto State raised a concern on Sunday being the 2nd day of July 2023, over the banditry in North West and North East saying it has constituted a serious threat to food security in Nigeria.

Bafarawa, revealed this when he spoke to the newsmen in his house. He stated that things might grow from bad to worse in the near future if no urgent measures are taken in order to arrest the banditry attacks in the country.

Further speaking, he said that the insecurity in Nigeria has gotten to the point that farmers are disallowed or banned completely from accessing their farms if they are unable to meet up the conditions set by terrorists, which will in turn lead to food scarcity in the country if nothing is done.
