Afenifere, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to listen to the yearnings of Nigerians and meet the demands of organised labour to avert a nationwide strike.
Rising from its meeting held at Isanya Ogbo residence of its leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo in Ogun State on Tuesday, the organization declared that Nigerians could not make more sacrifices than they have done, noting that fuel subsidy was prematurely removed without a plan.

The group also condemned the number of ministers and Assistants appointed by President Tinubu, saying “From the humongous number of 50 Ministers with an intractable number of aides, it is unacceptable that the people are being called upon to make further sacrifices.
“Government is called upon to look into the plight of Nigerians and listen to the NLC to avert the looming strikes in the interests of the already prostrate economy.”
Afenifere also raised the alarm on what it described as an increasing state of insecurity in the country.
It stated that “Afenifere, as the people of Nigeria, is alarmed by the spate of insecurity in the country, where Nigerians are now mindlessly not sparing security agents in their numbers with rescuing military aircraft brought down with impunity in Niger State, scores of university students abducted in Zamfara and are still with their abductors and fate unknown.
