Mikel Obi, the former captain of the Nigerian national football team, has finally addressed the long-standing rumors between him and Afropop icon 2baba.

Back in 2010, there was a buzz surrounding 2baba’s hit song “Only Me.” Speculation surfaced that the track was a response to an incident in 2006 where Mikel allegedly ignored him at a London club. However, 2baba clarified that the song was never intended as a diss and denied any such event ever occurring.

Mikel, until recently, had never publicly addressed these rumors. However, when a curious fan asked him about it, he decided to set the record straight regarding his relationship with 2baba or an alleged London club incident.

In a video shared by Mikel, he can be seen relaxing at home, enjoying a song by the late South African legend Brenda Fassie. The caption he wrote alongside the video read, “When the music hits hard and you can’t get enough. Have a good Sunday, my people.”

One Instagram user took this opportunity to question Mikel about the old viral reports, asking if he had indeed snubbed 2baba at a London club in 2006. Mikel promptly debunked the rumor, stating, “No, I never did. I am a big fan of his, so I wouldn’t do such a thing. Have a lovely day.”

With this direct response, Mikel put an end to the speculations and made it clear that there was no animosity between him and the legendary musician.
