Professor Okey Ikechukwu, a human capital development expert, suggested that it would be prudent to advise Tinubu not to focus on the first 100 days in office. He made this statement during an interview with Arise on the night show when asked to comment on Tinubu’s suspension of EFCC Chairman, Bawa, just 48 hours after visiting the president.

Professor Ikechukwu pointed out that it is a customary protocol for heads of agencies to visit a new president, either to welcome him to office or at the president’s invitation. He acknowledged that Tinubu has the authority to suspend anyone based on available information and in the best interests of the country.

“I believe the man didn’t hit the ground running; it seems he was still figuring things out before he took action,” Professor Ikechukwu stated.

He further commented that the decision to dismiss Bawa might have been based on pre-inauguration intelligence because it is crucial for the new president to have a strong team. He emphasized that such decisions must be well-informed and in the national interest as they form the foundation for his tenure.

“The idea now is that by the time he reaches 100 days in office, there will be much to evaluate. We should advise him (Tinubu) not to be overly focused on the first 100 days, as he is elected to lead and doesn’t need to rush,” he added.
