Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the president general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has claimed that foreigners who entered Lagos State are responsible for its development. In an interview with Punch paper, he claimed that Lagos State’s capacity for growth was due to the Igbos’ long-standing tolerance in the region. He claimed that despite experiencing some mistreatment, the Igbo people persisted because of the national unity principle.

The Igbos recognize that every place they go is someone’s property, he remarked. They would rather purchase the land if they were to come to Lagos and want to develop. Let’s consider what Lagos would be like without the actions of the Igbos and other tribes.

The tolerance of the Igbos is essential for Lagos to develop. The fact that Lagos was developed by outsiders must be remembered by the natives of Lagos, in my opinion. Even Lekki was a jungle, and water was all around, as some of them, I know, are young people, didn’t know. However, it was created by individuals who traveled there, made financial investments, and made the area their own. Some of these individuals were even born in the state, which allowed them to create the area.
