Kenneth Okonkwo’s response on social media reflects his strong disagreement with Festus Okoye’s explanation regarding the malfunction of the IREV portal in the presidential election. The actor’s remarks indicate a belief that there may have been foul play involved in the electoral process, leading to doubts about the transparency and fairness of the election.
Nigerian actor, lawyer, and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has taken to his social media platform to respond to Festus Okoye, the INEC National Commissioner on Voter Education/Publicity. Okoye recently made a statement regarding the IREV portal used in the recently concluded presidential election. According to media reports, Okoye admitted during an interview on Channels TV that the IREV portal functioned properly in all aspects except for the presidential election. He explained that there was a glitch in the portal.
In his response, Kenneth Okonkwo strongly criticized the Commissioner, accusing him of lying. The Nollywood actor suggested that Okoye’s recent statement implies that the electoral system was manipulated. Okonkwo expressed his disagreement with Okoye’s assertion and voiced his concerns about the credibility of the election.
Kenneth Okonkwo further stated:
“Firstly, Lawyers are called “Learned” because they understand little of every discipline and researches where to get the answers to every question. This is why they can defend Doctors, Engineers, Scientists etc in court. It was nauseating that till date, four months after the presidential election, the “Learned” Festus Okoye confessed on public TV that he doesn’t know what caused the non-transmission or transfer or non-uploading of the presidential election results on IREV Portal and the Server because it was technical”.
By labeling Okoye’s statement as a lie, Kenneth Okonkwo implied that the glitch mentioned by the Commissioner was not a genuine technical issue but rather a deliberate act to manipulate the election results. The actor’s comments highlight his suspicion and lack of confidence in the integrity of the electoral process.
