JUST IN : Sam Larry picked up by police to aid probing of Mohbad’s death

Samson Erinfolami Balogun Eletu, a controversial show promoter popularly known as Sam Larry, has been taken into custody by the Nigeria Police for questioning regarding the ongoing investigation into Mohbad‘s death.

The Police Public Relations Officer of Lagos State Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this in a brief statement on his social media account on Thursday, September 28, 2023.

Sam Larry is among the individuals suspected to be connected to the circumstances surrounding the passing of the young Afrobeats musician.

The police have initiated inquiries to unravel the details surrounding the 27-year-old artist’s demise, with an autopsy already conducted after the exhumation of his remains last Thursday.

Mohabd passed away mysteriously on September 12, and reports suggested struggles with depression and other mental health-related issues, speculated to be linked to his contentious departure from his former record label, Marlian Records, owned by Naira Marley.

Sam Larry and Naira Marley are known associates, and after Mohbad’s death, videos depicting his mistreatment by the former surfaced online, raising suspicions of their involvement in his demise.

Despite Sam Larry releasing a video refuting his alleged involvement in Mohbad’s death, stating that the circulating videos were old and should not be used to incriminate him, Nigerians are urging him to present himself to the police to clear his name.

On his part, Naira Marley has denied any connection to the events leading to Mohbad’s death.

He, currently out of the country, vowed to return and cooperate with the police in the ongoing investigation, with the condition that the authorities ensure his safety.
