Just In: Enugu community condemns allegation of land grabbing against monarch

The people of Obeagu Ugwuaji Autonomous Community, in Enugu South Council of Enugu State, have condemned what they described as ‘media trial’ of their traditional ruler, Igwe Christopher Ikenga, and his police son, who is a Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tochukwu.

In a statement signed by the Secretary of Obeagu Ugwuaji palace, Chief Edwin Nyia, the community stated “that the report of land grabbing, torture, intimidation, arrest and harassment by Igwe Ikenga is false, malicious and an attempt to tarnish the image of the royal family.

Nyia said: “We would advise that the general public be well guided.”He challenged persons making the allegations to “provide members of the public information about name of police department that arrested them, the date they were arrested, the place they were arrested from, other names of police officers that joined in enforcing the arrest and where they were detained.”
