JUST IN: DSS Release Detained CBN Deputy Governor
The Department of State Services (DSS) has released Kingsley Obiora, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) responsible for Economic Policy, who had been in detention.

A source familiar with the situation suggested that Obiora may have been targeted because he is considered a key witness in the investigation against his superior. Another senior CBN official, Abbas Masanawa, had also been recently arrested and detained as part of efforts to ascertain the extent of Emefiele’s alleged wrongdoing.

Furthermore, it has come to light that the special panel led by Jim Obazee has been questioning the deputy governors of the CBN, as well as other senior bank officials, as part of an ongoing audit.
The source emphasized, “It should be clear that no one is accusing Dr. Obiora of fraud or theft. Dr. Obiora, like the other deputy governors, had been questioned multiple times by the panel before his detention.”
