Just In: Angry Youths Attack Police Post in Lagos, Officer Injured
it was reported that a group of angry youths has carried out an attack on a police post situated on Olayiwola Close in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State. The motive behind the attack is yet to be determined. During the incident, a policeman on duty sustained a head injury and was promptly taken to the emergency center at the toll gate along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for immediate medical attention.
Authorities swiftly contacted the Lagos State Fire Service to extinguish the fire that engulfed the police post. While the fire was successfully put out, a section of the building was damaged. Fortunately, no firearms were stolen during the attack. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway, although no suspects have been apprehended thus far…………….CONTINUE READING
In a separate incident, on Sunday, two individuals suspected to be associated with the Yoruba Nation movement were arrested while attempting to take over the Alausa Police Station in Ikeja. Approximately 15 agitators entered the premises and began recording videos on their phones, chanting slogans such as “No more Nigeria police again” and “Yoruba Nation has taken over in Yoruba land.” In response, the police officers at the station were attacked. Additional police personnel were deployed to the scene, resulting in the arrest of two of the agitators, while the others managed to escape. The suspects were found in possession of charms, cutlasses, and insignia associated with the group.
