Renowned Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist, Jibrin Okutepa, expressed his reaction on Twitter after the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) revealed that a student who claimed to have scored 362 in her JAMB result had actually faked her results.

Okutepa commented that if the story was true, it reflected the prevailing culture in Nigerian society where such actions were done and celebrated. He further criticized the criminal ingenuity of many Nigerians and politicians, pointing out that fake and forged results were common in elections, posing a threat to democracy.

While Okutepa commended JAMB for taking action, he called on other institutions responsible for exposing corruption to be vigilant and proactive. He emphasized the need to eradicate fake results from society and highlighted how many individuals in public and civil service held positions based on forged documents or misrepresented information.

Okutepa expressed concern about the lack of accountability in Nigeria and the preference for attaining success through wrong means rather than hard work. He urged Nigerians to stop celebrating those who engage in fraudulent practices and demanded that things be done correctly in society.
