According to a news that was published by the Punch paper online yesterday evening, it was reported that there is a growing tension, over the fate of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and the party’s National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, at the forthcoming meeting of the National Executive Committee on July 11.
It was reported that a top member of the All Progressives Congress, who spoke to Punch correspondent under the condition of anonymity, said that, the continue say of Adamu in office as the National Chairman of the party, was no longer certain, due to the two allegations made against him.
He said, “ In the next NEC meeting, Adamu has two cases against him which he will defend. He has been accused of anti-party activities on two occasions. The first has to do with his endorsement of former Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the consensus candidate in the build-up to the All Progressives Congress’ convention last year. The second happened recently during the National Assembly leadership election, where virtually every member of the National Working Committee, knew he did not support some of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s adopted candidates.”
However, a close ally of Abdullahi Adamu, who as well craved anonymity, while reacting to the allegations defended him, as he said that, Lukman, who indicted Adamu, was acting the script of some certain persons in the party, who want the national chairman and the secretary out at all costs.
He said, “Is not it obvious that this was their game plan all along ? Nevertheless, I cannot comment much because we have not seen the actual agenda for the NEC meeting.”
