While the federal government has constituted a committee chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, to handle the situation, Obi called on the Buhari-led administration to expedite efforts to rescue the stranded Nigerians.
Onyeama stated that the evacuation would begin within the next two days and that about 5,500 Nigerians, 80% of whom are students, are ready for evacuation from Sudan.
The minister added that agencies of government are working to provide relief to those stranded.
