Imo natives in diaspora return home, shocked by road construction

The leader of the group, Success Akajiaku, speaking to reporters on their return in Owerri, said: “From the airport to this point, we observed everybody was moving freely contrary to what we were told over there.
An Abuja-based Imo son, Mr Moses Anunaso, said he was pleasantly shocked when he arrived in Imo for Christmas with the solid road construction work the government did on the Owerri-Okigwe road, particularly at Eke mele axis.
“I was shocked at the quality of the road that Hope Uzodinma built at Eke-Mele. The first governor, after many years, did something positive about that road. I said I was shocked because, considering the amount of criticism he receives on social media, I wasn’t expecting to see anything that good. I also saw other good things too,” he said.
Adding her voice, Mrs Maureen Nwachuku-Jacobs, an Imo daughter, but married to a Chicago citizen in the USA, said: “When I returned home for Christmas, I visited Orlu, I went to Umuahia, and even saw the good roads at the airport road. We thank the Governor for his exploits in road construction.
On insecurity, Mrs Jacobs said, “I wanted to sell my land in Orlu due to the story we have been hearing about insecurity, but I changed my mind because I saw something different. Although there are still security breaches here and there, the situation on the ground is opposite of what I heard and read on social media while still in the USA.”
Meanwhile, Imo youths under the umbrella of the Global Association of Concerned Imo Youths (GACIY) have commended the governor for keeping to his promise of a safe yuletide.
President of the group Collins Ughala noted that there is no better gift the governor can offer in this season than the peaceful atmosphere and good road network he has provided.
