An elected national PDP delegate in Imo State, Gozie Nwanchukwu, has made some revelations regarding some PDP executives in Imo State who decided to decamp to the ruling APC ahead of the upcoming governorship election. In his interview, the party leader spoke about whether the PDP was dead in Imo.

Addressing the topic, Gozie said, “I do not know if the exit of seven members of the state working committee of the PDP will lead to the death of a political party that has 17-man executives in the 305 wards (and over 3000 polling units). I do not know how this can amount to the death of the PDP in Imo State. Just recently, a meeting was held at the campaign secretariat of our governorship candidate, Samuel Anyanwu, where all the ward chairmen and women leaders were present. A political party is not run from a state office with 13 members. No, it runs from the wards, where people become members of the party.

He added, “Nobody left the PDP from any ward or LGA in Imo State. Just seven self-seeking people left the party, and that does not amount to the death of the PDP in Imo State. More members have since joined our party as they left. The said executives who left the PDP for the APC are moles, and we are better off without those moles. We have since gained determined people who want to ensure that Imo State is safe again.
