According to Professor Okey Ikechukwu, a Human Capital Development expert, President Bola Tinubu’s decision to remove fuel subsidies is the same decision that former President Olusegun Obasanjo made on his first day in office.

He told Arise TV news that the President might not have been able to remove the subsidy if he had waited until the following week. According to him, the new administration has made a daring move.

”The President made a wise decision to eliminate the fuel subsidy,” he continued. The subsidies had to go away. It now has ramifications, and those ramifications must be addressed. My concern is that he would not have been able to withdraw the fuel subsidy if he had waited any longer. Tinubu’s first command reminded me of President Obasanjo’s actions. Obasanjo fired all senior military officers with political links. He wouldn’t have finished it if he had pushed it until the following week.”
