ICPC Reveals Who EXPOSED D’banj, Leading To His Arrest; SEE Who

News of the arrest of Nigerian music star, Oladipo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known by his stage name D’banj, reverberated through the country on Wednesday following his arrest on Tuesday.

Reports had said that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, arrested and detained him over his alleged involvement in an N-Power Programme fraud case.

A top source at the ICPC had disclosed that the music star was apprehended by the commission on Tuesday, few weeks after the 41-year-old was summoned but often found ways to honour the invitation.

However, he was eventually arrested and detained on Tuesday after ICPC operatives closed in on him, forcing him to surrender himself at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Insiders with knowledge of the case said D’banj had dodged summons for weeks, claiming to be overseas for scheduled concerts each time he was invited to appear for interrogation over allegations.

The pop star, one of Nigeria’s wealthiest celebrity, is accused of fraudulently diverting some funds earmarked by the Nigerian government for N-Power project, an empowerment programme set up by the Nigerian government in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development.
