Senator Teslim Folarin, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 28 governorship election in Oyo State, expressed his dissatisfaction with the party’s handling of the election and claimed that he was “thrown under the bus” for the sake of the APC’s victory in the February 25 presidential election.
Addressing APC members at a reception and victory party in Idigbaro, Ologuneru area of Ibadan, Senator Folarin highlighted the party’s success in winning the three senatorial seats of Oyo South, Oyo Central, and Oyo North, as well as nine out of the fourteen federal constituency seats in the state. He asserted that the APC is currently the strongest party in Oyo State. However, he voiced his disappointment with the party’s treatment of him during the governorship election.
Folarin stated, “On the governorship election, we were thrown under the bus.” He expressed his belief that the APC’s high wire politics and intrigues were responsible for his unfavorable position in the election, while President Bola Tinubu, who contested under the APC platform, emerged as the winner.
Despite his grievances, Senator Folarin mentioned that efforts are being made to reconcile with aggrieved members of the party. He expressed optimism that the APC would soon regain its strength in the state. He also urged Nigerians to exercise patience with President Bola Tinubu’s policies and actions, describing them as courageous measures to uplift the country from its current challenges.
