In a revealing interview, professional footballer Archraf Hakimi opened up about his tumultuous marriage to Hiba Abouk and the steps he took to protect his assets during their separation.
Hakimi, who was married to Abouk from 2020 to 2023, shared details of how he transferred all his assets to his mother’s name after suspecting his wife was more interested in his wealth than their marriage.

Concerned about her potential motives, Hakimi decided to act swiftly. “I realized that she was after my money just two months into our marriage,” Hakimi recounted.
“I transferred everything to my mother and was patiently waiting for her to file for a divorce.”
A year into their marriage, Hakimi’s suspicions intensified following a minor argument where Abouk allegedly hinted at the possibility of filing for divorce and demanding half of his assets.
This conversation confirmed Hakimi’s fears. “Upon hearing this, I realized that I was living with a gold-digger,” Hakimi said. “The idea of registering my assets in a trust to my mother’s name just came into my head.”
Hakimi then approached his mother, who assured him of her unwavering support. She emphasized the sacrifices they had made together and her commitment to protecting her son.
“Son, I carried you in my womb for nine months, and I can never let anything happen to you,” she reportedly told him. “We worked so hard to get you where you are today, and no woman is going to come out of nowhere and bring you down.”
Following this conversation, Hakimi transferred all his assets to his mother’s name, including his clothes and the jersey he wore during matches.
When Abouk eventually filed for divorce and sought half of his wealth, Hakimi was prepared. He revealed that he felt no concern about her demands. “She even told me that I was going to go broke after our divorce, but I just laughed in my heart,” Hakimi recounted.
The divorce proceedings took an unexpected turn when it was revealed in court that Hakimi had no assets in his name. “She was shocked to realize that I had nothing and my mother has been the one taking care of us,” Hakimi explained.
He added that Abouk wept in court, not because of the end of their marriage but because she was leaving empty-handed.
Hakimi concluded with a message to men, emphasizing the importance of planning and the reliability of a mother’s love.
“Dear men, friends will betray you, wives will betray you, but a mother’s love is supreme,” he said.
The revelations have sparked widespread discussion about trust, financial protection, and the complexities of marriage in the public eye.
