In a recent Facebook Live session, Alhaji Asari Mujahid Dokubo, a former Niger-Delta militant, shed more light on his heritage. He acknowledged that he has never denied being an Igbo man, stating that interviews he had over a decade ago on channels television and NTA confirm his claims of having Igbo blood in his veins. Dokubo revealed that his Igbo name, Uzodinma, was inherited from his father. He further disclosed that he had ventured to Ohafia, an Igbo community, to marry an Igbo woman, and even named their son Uzodinma as well.
During the session, Dokubo also emphasized the need for introspection among Igbo people. He questioned why individuals are gravitating towards Yoruba lands instead of their own, stressing the importance of self-improvement rather than living in self-denial. Dokubo’s statements highlight his concern for the prosperity and progress of the Igbo community.
Furthermore, Dokubo acknowledged his evolving connection to his Igbo heritage. He explained that in the past, he had estimated having 40 percent Igbo blood, but that proportion has now increased to 75 percent. This revelation signifies his growing understanding and identification with his ancestry.
