President Bola Tinubu is unable to launch an investigation into his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, according to a justification offered by Primate Elijah Ayodele, head of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church. Primate Ayodele asserts that Tinubu’s administration would suffer if he opened an investigation into Buhari’s Government.

This declaration comes amid claims that Tinubu received advice from Buhari not to investigate his former appointees. Contrary to these claims, Garba Shehu, the ex-spokesperson of Buhari, refuted such reports and emphasized that the former president never made any plea of that nature.

Nevertheless, during an event titled “Warning to the Nations” held in Lagos on Saturday, Ayodele expressed his belief that the current government would outperform the previous administration under Buhari. He said, however, that doing so would have a negative impact on their own governance, thus they would be unable to handle the issues related to the previous administration.

The present administration will face obstacles in investigating the previous government under Buhari. Ayodele additionally encouraged Tinubu to uphold the principles of press freedom and freedom of speech throughout his tenure.

He expressed, “I hold no opposition against Tinubu’s government; in fact, I support it wholeheartedly. However, there have been instances where individuals have been persecuted for speaking up. They are denied freedom of speech when it matters most.

“I strongly advise this government to promote press freedom and uphold the right to express oneself.”
