“I Gave My NYSC Allowee to My Husband While I Took Loans to Survive” – Nigerian Woman Shares Emotional Story

A Nigerian woman has sparked conversations online after revealing that she handed over her monthly NYSC allowance to her husband, despite struggling financially and surviving on loans.

The unidentified woman, who made the confession during a radio talk show, said she believed in supporting her husband’s ambitions even at the expense of her well-being.

“Throughout my NYSC, I gave him my entire allowee. I took loans from friends and cooperatives just to feed and go to work. I was doing it out of love,” she stated tearfully.

Her story has resonated with many on social media, with some praising her for her sacrifice and loyalty, while others criticized the imbalance in the relationship.

One user commented, “This is why women need to prioritize self-care and financial independence. Love should not mean suffering.”

Another added, “Her husband should have at least ensured she didn’t have to take loans while supporting him.”

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) monthly allowance is meant to support corps members as they serve the nation for one year. Currently, it stands at ₦33,000 per month.

This story has reignited conversations around financial sacrifice, emotional manipulation, and gender roles in marriages and relationships.CONTINUE READING
