A few hours ago, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Peter Fayose came out to slam opposition camps criticizing his public support for the Tinubu administration.

While addressing State House Correspondents shortly after a closed-door meeting with the President at the Aso Rock Villa on Thursday, July 6, 2023, Fayose, who was a member of the rebelling PDP faction known as the Integrity Group, argued that he did not need any government appointment to contribute his quota to the progress of the country under the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Going further, the erstwhile governor insisted that he has no intention to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that he will remain in the PDP until he retires from partisan politics. He then went on to urge well-meaning Nigerians to join hands in ensuring that the present government succeeds.

He said; “Let me say again unequivocally as I have said in several fora; I will never be a member of the APC. I am a PDP man and when I get to the point where I can no longer be involved in partisan politics, I will go home and be a husband to my wife. It is not a matter of party. Nigeria is bigger than all political parties and interest groups. I want to say it again, I don’t have to take an appointment to make a difference in this country.

Nigeria has a population of about 200 million people. We all cannot have appointments. Whoever makes it in the APC or in an attempt to have a government of national unity, it is all about service. May I say to you expressly, I am not a desperate person at all.”
