Pa Ayo Adebanjo, a prominent Afenifere leader, stated during an interview with Arise that he cannot recognize Tinubu in an office that he believes is nonexistent. He mentioned that he is not the only one waiting for the court case to be resolved before sharing his views on President Tinubu’s administration. Adebanjo firmly stated his right to express his opinion independently, regardless of the court’s judgment. He concluded by affirming that he cannot be part of a group that praises Tinubu’s actions while he occupies what Adebanjo considers to be a temporary position.
During an interview with Arise , Afenifere leader Pa Ayo Adebanjo made it clear that he refuses to acknowledge Tinubu in a position that he believes doesn’t exist. He emphasized that he is not alone in waiting for the court case to conclude before sharing his thoughts on President Tinubu’s administration.
According to him, “I can’t recognise him in an office that I believe doesn’t exist. Let that be clear. I don’t follow the propaganda that says, Oh, he has done this; he has done that. They’re mixing the issue. Don’t forget that I’m not the only one saying that until this thing is finally done by the court, then we know where we’re going. Even If the court decides, we can still express an opinion, but I don’t want to say, Oh, he has been doing well; he has not been doing well. It’s true for me that God made him the governor of Lagos State. I know his ability, but I’m not commenting on it now. That’s not the position of Afenifere. The position of the Afenifere is that we want a free, fair, and credible election. It is that free, fair, and credible election that we’re questioning.””
Adebanjo asserted his right to express his opinion independently, regardless of the court’s ruling. He firmly stated that he cannot be among those who lavish praise on Tinubu for his actions while occupying what Adebanjo perceives as a temporary position.
