During an interview with Arise , Pa Ayo Adebanjo, a leader of the Afenifere, stated that it should be clear that he cannot recognise Tinubu in an office that he believes doesn’t exist. He stated that he’s not the only one waiting for the court case to be over before they can comment on the administration of President Tinubu.
He further stated that he has the right to express his opinion regardless of the judgement of the court. He, however, concluded that he cannot be part of the people who will be praising Tinubu for doing this or doing that while he’s still occupying a temporary position.
According to him, “I can’t recognise him in an office that I believe doesn’t exist. Let that be clear. I don’t follow the propaganda that says, Oh, he has done this; he has done that. They’re mixing the issue. Don’t forget that I’m not the only one saying that until this thing is finally done by the court, then we know where we’re going. Even If the court decides, we can still express an opinion, but I don’t want to say, Oh, he has been doing well; he has not been doing well. It’s true for me that God made him the governor of Lagos State. I know his ability, but I’m not commenting on it now. That’s not the position of Afenifere. The position of the Afenifere is that we want a free, fair, and credible election. It is that free, fair, and credible election that we’re questioning.””
