During the investigation, Bawa asserted that the DSS lacked the authority to detain him without specific charges, which led to his refusal to provide any written statements during his confinement.

However, a source, speaking anonymously to SaharaReporters, disclosed on Tuesday that Bawa had been moved from the DSS headquarters to one of their private facilities.

The source stated, “They’ve relocated Bawa from the DSS headquarters to one of their private facilities in order to maintain complete control over him after he declined to provide the requested statements.”

Naija News has reported that Bawa, along with the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has been detained. Both individuals were suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shortly after he assumed office as the successor to Muhammadu Buhari.

Bawa and Emefiele are facing allegations of corrupt practices and abuse of office.
