Gunmen set woman ablaze, raze homes of 2 commissioners, DSS in Imo
Gunmen continued their nefarious activities in Imo State yesterday when they set a woman, Grace Ngwu, on fire at Amagu, Ihube, in Okigwe Local Government Area of the state.
Also razed in the attack were houses of the Imo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Emeka Okoronkwo, and the country home of former commissioner for information during Rochas Okorocha’s tenure, Professor Nnamdi Obiaraeri, who also served as commissioner for land and urban planning during Chief Ikedi Ohakim’s administration……..Continue Reading
The hoodlums were said to have moved to the home of a retired Director of State Services (DSS), Emeka Ngwu, at about 5. 30am same day where the woman believed to be a relation of the retired DSS official was burnt beyond recognition.
The Ihube community has been under intense attack lately, a Labour Party (LP) candidate for Okigwe, Nnaemeka’s house was burnt a few months back.
When contacted, the state police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident but added that investigation has begun to arrest the culprits.
He said: “DPO Okigwe and his team on receipt of the information swiftly mobilised to the scene and recovered the deceased and deposited her at the mortuary.
“Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Our intelligence team and patrol team have led an intensified effort to unravel the identities of the perpetrators of this dastardly act in a bid to arrest and bring them to justice. The case will be transferred to State CID for discrete investigations,” he said.
