We will be looking at four of the most bizarre superstitions in football history.
Former Chelsea and Aston Villa star John Terry is one of the best defenders in the history of the English Premier League. However, even the colossal centre-back relied on luck sometimes in his playing days.
During his time at Chelsea, John Terry revealed that he had about 50 superstitions ranging from sitting in the same place on the team bus and listening to the same Usher album before a match to wearing a lucky pair of shin pads for ten seasons.
Even some of the very best footballers in football history have superstitions they believe in.
Former Manchester United superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has a habit of being the last player to step into the pitch. He also places his right leg on the turf first before leaping into the heavens when he steps unto the pitch.
Gareth Bale has several superstitions to avoid injuries… Funny, isn’t it? The former Real Madrid star loves cutting holes in his socks before stepping onto the pitch because he believes this avoids compression on his calf muscles.
He also stopped driving his Lamborghini Aventador Roadster to games because he believes the uncomfortable seating puts pressure on that area of his legs.
Former Manchester United superstar David Beckham is another football player who had a funny superstition during his playing days.
The English legend ensures he leaves everything in his fridge well arranged before leaving for a game. He later admitted that he was suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
