In an open letter addressed to the PDP leadership and his supporters, Asiegbu cited the use of “fake delegates lists” during the PDP State House of Assembly primaries as the primary reason for his departure. He alleged that no congress was conducted to elect ad hoc delegates for the primaries in Umuahia North State Constituency, a practice he believes undermines democratic principles.

Expressing his dissatisfaction, Asiegbu stated, “As a democrat and understanding the implication of forceful imposition of candidate, I did not want to be imposed without participating in a legitimately organized primary election.”

He also expressed regret over the PDP’s treatment of the Umuahia North State Constituency, also known as the Ohuhu Clan, accusing the party of neglecting a constituency that has historically supported it.

Asiegbu’s resignation adds to the growing list of defections from the PDP in Abia State, reflecting internal challenges and dissatisfaction among its members.
