Mallam Ahmed Moyosore Jaji, a prominent member of the All Progressive Congress and former Executive Secretary of the Ojodu Local Council development area, has expressed his concerns about overturning the victory of President Bola Tinubu in court.
In an interview with the Sun paper, Jaji emphasized that such a decision would pose a threat to the societal well-being of Nigeria. He argued that the judges responsible for the case must take into consideration the state of the nation before reaching their judgment, as Nigeria cannot afford to relive the political turmoil experienced during the June 12, 1993 elections.
According to Jaji, the fact that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged as the President of Nigeria cannot be changed. He emphasized that Tinubu’s victory encompasses leading the entire country, comprising 36 states, and not just a portion of it. Jaji firmly believed that any attempt to overturn Tinubu’s victory would have significant implications for societal well-being and cohesion.
Jaji further elaborated that when interpreting the law and considering its spirit, it is crucial to prioritize societal well-being. He highlighted that the purpose of laws is to guide human conduct, protect individuals, and foster healthy interpersonal relationships.
In his view, societal well-being should take precedence over strict adherence to the letter of the law. Jaji expressed his concern about avoiding nationwide confusion and emphasized the importance of maintaining stability and harmony across the country.
