Nigerian singer Fireboy DML, born Adedamola Adefolahan, has candidly discussed the initial strain in his relationship with his father due to his career choice. In an interview on MTV Base’s Behind The Story, Fireboy revealed that his father was disappointed when he chose to pursue music instead of a more traditional academic path. However, as Fireboy’s music career flourished, his parents became supportive and are now among his biggest fans.
Additionally, in a conversation with Zeze Millz, Fireboy shared that his father required him to sign an undertaking before allowing him to drop out of university in his final year to pursue music in Lagos. The agreement stipulated that if he didn’t achieve success within two years, he would return to follow his father’s guidance.
Fireboy’s journey from a studio errand boy to a celebrated artist signed under YBNL Nation underscores his determination and belief in his talent.
