FG suspends work on Lagos-Ibadan express to reduce gridlock

The Ministry of Works and Housing has made an announcement regarding the suspension of ongoing reconstruction work on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. This decision has been taken to mitigate potential traffic congestion during the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir, Sallah celebration.

In a statement issued by the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Engineer (Mrs) Olukorede Kesha, it has been noted that heavy traffic flow, adverse weather conditions, and the approaching Eid Kabir festival influenced this decision. Starting from Tuesday, June 27, to Sunday, July 2, 2023, construction activities on this vital and heavily traveled highway will be temporarily halted. This measure aims to ensure a smoother travel experience for individuals during the Eid holiday and alleviate the inconvenience caused by traffic congestion during this significant period.

Travellers are kindly requested to cooperate with the Traffic Management Team deployed on the highway, who will be responsible for overseeing traffic management and ensuring a safe and orderly flow of vehicles.
