Fenerbahce put Enner Valencia into viral photo of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as Ecuador captain stars in opening World Cup game against Qatar
Valencia was the star as Ecuador cruised to a 2-0 victory over host nation Qatar in the opening match of the 2022 World Cup.
The 33-year-old struck twice within 30 minutes and even had another ruled out by VAR.
He now has each of Ecuador’s last five goals at the World Cup, becoming the first South American player to achieve such a feat.
In other words, Lionel Messi could never.
The legendary Argentine did, however, break the internet by teaming up with arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo for a Louis Vitton promotional campaign.
The French luxury fashion house managed to get the pair in front of a camera as they posed for a game of chess ahead of the World Cup.
And in a twist on the already-iconic photo, Valencia’s club side Fenerbahce shared the image with their striker sitting in the background.
Valencia is seen holding a coffee and smiling as Messi and Ronaldo stare at the chessboard.
The tweet garnered more than 100,000 ‘likes’ on Twitter and, after some exhaustive digging, we can confirm it is photoshopped.
Still, not bad for an Everton and West Ham reject!
