Customs Simplifies Operations at the Idiroko Border, Reducing Checkpoints
According to reports, the Controller of the Ogun 1 Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bamidele Makinde, has stated that the number of checkpoints along the Sango-Owode-Idiroko road, which is a major route connecting Nigeria and Benin Republic, has been reduced for the purpose of trade facilitation. Makinde explained that he collaborated with other security agents to minimize the number of security barricades along the Idiroko border. The aim is to streamline documentation processes and prevent unnecessary delays for obtaining documents. He also mentioned that the transportation of goods along the route has become easier, as legitimate business people with proper documentation are not disturbed by security agents.
The reduction of checkpoints and improved trade facilitation efforts are intended to create a smoother and more efficient environment for legitimate trade activities between Nigeria and Benin Republic.
