The Presidential Election Appeal Court in Abuja has decided to postpone the hearing of the appeal that was submitted by Peter Obi of the Labour Party.

The hearing has been postponed until the following Tuesday, July 4, 2023.

This comes after the Independent National Electoral Commission was unable to launch its defense because three of its initial witnesses failed to appear in court.

It was originally planned that INEC would launch its defense today (Monday).

The electoral body, through its lawyer Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN), stated that he would rely on the testimonies of three witnesses, but that the organization’s first witness, who was expected to be in court today due to family concerns, did not show up.

As a result of Mahmoud’s request for the hearing to be postponed so that the initial witness may make their appearance in court, the new time for the hearing is 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

The attorneys for the opposing parties did not raise any objections to the postponement of the hearing.
