He said, “There is no rift between us. The party was based on principles and I observed some things were not going right, and no matter the situation you found yourself it was the boss that would always decide. However, in a democracy, the idea is for people to rub minds, share ideas and be convinced with what the final position would be, but I discovered that was not the case so I decided that it was difficult for me to operate in that kind of atmosphere.”

Further talking, he said that what transpired was a decision made without the full consensus of the stakeholders and personally, he had reservations about the change from the Alliance for Democracy (AD) to the Action Congress (AC) because, he recognized that it might compromise the principles that initially united them within the AD.

He said the AD, had a rich historical legacy, tracing its roots from the leadership of figures like Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Lateef Jakande, Bola Ige, and others before their generation and when the transition from AD to AC was proposed, he had concerns about how it aligned with their principles and why AC was deemed necessary to replace AD.
