The devastating news was confirmed by a security source, expressing sadness over the loss of lives. “We got the report late yesterday (Monday), it is sad. Seven people lost their lives, and you see it is difficult for us to tell these people not to go farm. We are working hard to ensure they are protected,” the source stated. One person was also injured in the attack and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. The families of the victims have reportedly gone to recover their remains, and funeral prayers will be held later in the day.

This recent attack follows another gruesome incident that occurred just two weeks ago in Borno State. Suspected Boko Haram terrorists reportedly beheaded approximately fifteen people in two communities within the Jere Local Government Area. The terrorists unleashed their violence in Kofa village, shooting indiscriminately, and then proceeded to attack Molai Kura and Molai Gana, where they brutally slaughtered several individuals. Many residents had to flee their homes and seek shelter in nearby bushes to escape the violence.

A member of a vigilante group, Bukar Ali Musty, confirmed the incident, stating that the victims were farmers working on their farmland. “At least 15 bodies were evacuated this morning; the attacks took place yesterday (Thursday). Seven farmers were beheaded while working on their farmland, and the attackers also slit the throats of eight other harmless civilians in their homes,” Musty revealed.

The attacks have raised concerns among the community, with a civilian JTF member calling for collective action to address the ongoing threat. “It was a sad development considering the progress that we have made in the months without any attacks on communities. I can’t imagine seeing my fellow human being slaughtered like a ram. All those bodies that we recovered were found in the pool of blood, and I think we all need to rise to tame this enemy of peace,” the source expressed.

The series of attacks highlights the continued security challenges faced in Borno State and the urgent need for strengthened efforts to protect innocent lives and maintain peace in the region.
