Yesterday, it was published by the Daily Trust paper online that, some protesters from various parts of Nigeria, on Thursday stormed the European Union (EU) office in Abuja, and demanded the withdrawal of its report on the 2023 general elections.

It was reported that the protesters, under the aegis of the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations and Good Governance, were carrying placards and banners with inscriptions such as “Do not ignite war in Nigeria,” “EU’s report is a scam,” “Too much blood in Nigeria” and “Nigerians reject EU’s election observer report.”

While Mr Daniel Bwala, who happens to be one of the official spokespersons to the Peoples Democratic Party’s Presidential Campaign Council for the 2023 presidential election, was reacting to this development on his official Twitter handle this morning, he said that before people condemn the report of the EU against the conduct of the 2023 general elections, they should know that the EU has been the only international entity that has contributed to Nigeria’s democracy more than any other international entity.

He said, “I believe in Nigeria’s sovereignty. But you only need to read the EU report on the 2023 elections to see at a glance where as a nation and people our values have degenerated into. Read their report on issues bothering on the three branches of our government.”

Further talking, he said, “Before you condemn EU, just know that since 1999 to date no international entity has contributed more than the EU to Nigeria’s democratic development. AU and ECOWAS have been more of a parasite than partners. 75 percent of any help President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would need externally would come from the EU than any regional body.”

He said that the holiday, shopping, conferences and medicals etc, of Nigeria’s public officials from the president to the counselor, were catered for or hosted in the EUROPEAN UNION.

While concluding, he said, “So EU has earned the right to say a thing or two about Nigeria’s election. Get common sense.”
