According to the Sun reports, it was stated that the former governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, has urged the federal government to look for measures that could boost food security.
It was also reported that Bafarawa disclosed this during an interview with newsmen on Saturday in Sokoto State, where he claimed that it is important for the leaders of Nigeria to note that insecurity is not limited to banditry, saying that food insecurity could be worse than banditry.

According to his statements, Bafarawa also said that “Banditry seems to have settled in the Northeast, Northwest, and North Central, and the Federal Government needs to fight the scourge to the end.”
“But if the issue of food insecurity is not quickly attended to, I am afraid that the resulting havoc will be much more than banditry and terrorism.”
“Banditry has stopped farming activities, and most farmers have left their farming communities and returned to safer places for fear of attacks by bandits.”
“If the Federal government fails to do something, one wonders what will happen three months from now.” He added
