A few minutes ago, renowned lawyer, and Labour Party chieftain, Barrister Kenneth Okonkwo took to social media to provide an update on the proceedings at the ongoing Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal currently sitting in the nation’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a tweet posted on his Twitter handle on Tuesday afternoon, Okonkwo, who is a member of the legal team representing the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Gregory Obi at the tribunal, revealed that while the Deputy Director of the ICT department at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Dr. Lawrence Bayode was being cross-examined as a witness in court, he was given a result sheet (Form EC8A) that was uploaded to IREV by the electoral umpire to read and identify scores belonging to the APC but he failed to do so, admitting that the result was blurry.
Going further, Okonkwo revealed that INEC proceeded to close its case and the hearing was adjourned till Wednesday, July 5, 2023.
He wrote; “INEC opened their case at the Presidential Election Petition Court. Their first witness was Dr. Lawrence Bayode, Deputy Director, ICT Dept, INEC. He insisted that part of the duty of the presiding officer on election day is to snap the form EC8A and upload it on the IREV portal. He admitted that their e-transmission was tested on the 4th of February, 2023, and confirmed okay. He admitted that the content of Form EC8A snapped with BVAS must be the same as the one uploaded on IREV.
He was an IREV uploaded form EC8A to identify the result of APC and he admitted that he couldn’t because the uploaded result was blurry.”
