Peter Nwachukwu Sentenced to Death by Hanging for Gospel Singer Osinachi’s Murder

In a landmark judgment, the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has sentenced Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu, to death by hanging. The court found him guilty of culpable homicide in connection with Osinachi’s death on April 8, 2022.​

The prosecution presented 17 witnesses, including two of the couple’s children, and submitted 25 exhibits. Nwachukwu testified in his own defense, called four witnesses, and tendered four exhibits. Despite his counsel’s plea for leniency, the court imposed the death sentence on Count 1 and additional sentences on other counts, including imprisonment terms and fines.​
