Super Falcons Gear Up for Olympic Qualifiers Against South Africa

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have successfully qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, marking their return to the Olympics after a 16-year absence. In the decisive final qualifying round, Nigeria secured a 1-0 aggregate victory over South Africa’s Banyana Banyana. The crucial goal came from team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who converted a penalty in the first leg held in Abuja.

This qualification is particularly significant as the Super Falcons had missed out on the last three Olympic tournaments. Their last appearance was in 2008. The team’s return to the Olympics is seen as a testament to their resilience and determination to reclaim their position on the global stage.

The Super Falcons will now focus on preparing for the Olympic Games, aiming to make a strong impression in Paris.
