When a reinforcement crew showed up to bring things back to normal, things got rather heated. Yahaya Nda Isah, a resident of Hassan Dalatu Road, Suleja, was fatally struck by a stray gunshot while riding his bike close to the Suleja Police ‘A’ Division, where demonstrators had assembled, during the turmoil that followed. A deceased person’s nephew claims that Yahaya got caught in the crossfire and was not actively engaging in the protest.

“He was my uncle,” the nephew said in an interview with the Daily Trust, expressing his sorrow. Not that he was objecting. He was killed by a stray bullet that struck him in the chest as he passed the Police “A” Division, where some protesters were gathering. I’m in his house with other grieving people as I talk to you. It’s regrettable. Along with three other victims who were shot at the same site, Mallam Abu was another victim who passed away instantly. The event was confirmed by SP Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, who also mentioned that some thugs tried to set fire to the Tafa Local Government Area (LGA) office. But security guards, including law enforcement and military officers, managed to scatter the throng and bring the situation back under control. The police and military drove the miscreants away when they tried to set fire to the Tafa LGA. According to SP Abiodun, the Kaduna road and toll gate have been cleared.
