Appeal Court declares Zamfara governorship election inconclusive

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Thursday, declared the Zamfara state governorship election inconclusive.

Tribune reported that, the appeal court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to hold a new election in Maradun Local Government Area and some polling units in Birnin Magaji and Bukyun Local Government Areas of Zamfara State after ruling unanimously that the governorship election held on March 18, 2023, was inconclusive…………………..CONTINUE READING

Recall that on September 18, the Zamfara State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal upheld the election of Dauda Lawal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the state’s governor. This came after Bello Matawalle, the candidate for governor from the All Progressives Congress (APC), had his petition disputing the results of the March 18 governorship election denied due process.
