Entry Requirements for the UNILAG HND Conversion program

After candidates confirm their eligibility for the program and the discipline they may intend to change to, they will have to meet the requirements for the program. Different programs in the school come with different requirements due to the varieties of parameters which each of these programs operate in. Inability to meet all of the requirements outlined here by the different programs will subsequently result in inability gain admission into the desired program. B.Sc. ACCOUNTING AND B.Sc. BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

  • Candidates must be Graduates of University of Lagos or any other university recognized by Senate of the Institution. Usually, candidates with good honors degrees from their respective institutions are offered admission. This means graduates with low honors will most likely not get admitted into the program. OR
  • Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) or National Certificate in Education (NCE) in related fields of study. Also, only candidates with a minimum of Upper credit will be considered for admission into this program.
  • Candidates with certificates from recognized professionals institutions in Nigeria or overseas. These professional institutions may include ACA, ACCA, ACMA, ACIA, ACIS, ACIB, and CII. These candidates will only be considered for admission in this program as long as they possess a minimum of 5 credits at WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent, which must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics alongside any other two subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.
  • Candidates must possess WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) certificate with a minimum of 5 credits in subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other two subjects not exceeding 2 sittings.

B.Sc. Economics

B.Sc. PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

  • Candidates must be Graduates of University of Lagos or any other university recognized by Senate of the Institution. Usually, candidates with good honors degrees from their respective institutions are offered admission. This means graduates with low honors will most likely not get admitted into the program. OR
  • Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) or National Certificate in Education (NCE) in related fields of study. Also, only candidates with a minimum of Upper credit will be considered for admission into this program.
  • Candidates with certificates from recognized professionals institutions in Nigeria or overseas. These professional institutions may include ACA, ACCA, ACMA, ACIA, ACIS, ACIB, and CII.   • WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent with 5 credits to include English Language, Mathematics, Government plus any other two (2) subjects at not more than two(2) sittings.

B.Sc. EDUCATION SCIENCE PROGRAMME

  • Candidates must be Graduates of University of Lagos or any other university recognized by Senate of the Institution. Usually, candidates with good honors degrees from their respective institutions are offered admission. This means graduates with low honors will most likely not get admitted into the program. OR
  • Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) or National Certificate in Education (NCE) in related fields of study. Also, only candidates with a minimum of Upper credit will be considered for admission into this program.
  • Teacher’s Grade II Certificate (TCII) with at least Merit in five subjects including English Language, Mathematics and at least two other science subjects at the TCII/WASSCE/SSCE/NECO/GCE (Ordinary Level) or its equivalent;
  • Candidates with certificates from recognized professionals institutions in Nigeria or overseas. These professional institutions may include ACA, ACCA, ACMA, ACIA, ACIS, ACIB, and CII. These candidates will only be considered for admission in this program as long as they possess a minimum of 5 credits at WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent, which must include English Language, Mathematics, two science subjects alongside any other two subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.
  • WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent with credits in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics and at least two other science subjects; at not more than two(2) sittings from the following:

(i)     B.Sc. Education Biology

Biology, Chemistry and one other Science subject of Physics or Agricultural Science.

(ii)    B.Sc. Education Chemistry

Chemistry and any two of Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science or any other Science subject.

(iii)    B.Sc.  Education Mathematics

Mathematics and Physics and one other Science subjects of Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science or any other Science subject including at least a pass in Further Mathematics.

(iv) B.Sc. Education Physics

Physics and Chemistry and one other Science subject of Biology, Agricultural Science or any other science subject.

Application Guidelines for the UNILAG HND Conversion program

  • Candidates who have confirmed their status and meet all the requirements as stated in this article can proceed with the application process through the following.
  • Log on to JAMB CAP Website and Register for the part-time program
  • Pay the non-refundable fee of N3,500 in order to obtain a personal registration number
  • Visit the UNILAG Application Portal http://applications.unilag.edu.ng
  • Click “Start Fresh Application”
  • Select Distance Learning Institute as application type. After that, fill in the required fields which includes Surname, First Name, Middle Name, JAMB Registration Number, Mobile Phone Number and e-mail Address.
  • Click the “Pay now” to pay online, the application fee of =N=17,500 (Seventeen Thousand Five Hundred Naira) Only. OR Print the Payment advice with Remita Number to make payment at any Commercial Bank
  • Return to the application portal (http: //applications.unilag.edu.ng) after payment click “continue application”  enter your payment reference number and your surname in lower case as password.
  • Complete all required details and upload necessary documents

General Information for the UNILAG HND Conversion program

After candidates confirm they meet all the requirements and eligibility previously stated in this article, they must take note of these additional information from the management of the university.

  • Prospective Candidates who intend to apply for the UNILAG HND Conversion program must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
  • An offer of admission into the program will still be subject to viable number of prospective candidates who qualify for the program.
  • Print-out of result slips, most especially O’level certificates are not accepted during registration.
  • Again, Candidates with awaiting results should not bother to apply for the program
  • Statement of Result Slips are not acceptable for WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO results obtained before 2016. Original certificates are the only acceptable form of certificates in this program.

Duration and Venue for the UNILAG HND Conversion program

The UNILAG HND Conversion program runs for only 2 sessions over 6 semesters. Since this is a part-time program, lectures are scheduled for weekends and other specified dates by the management of the school.
