Drake Expands Lawsuit Against UMG, Citing Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Performance

Drake has intensified his legal battle against Universal Music Group (UMG) by amending his defamation lawsuit to include Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl 2025 halftime performance of “Not Like Us.” The Canadian rapper alleges that the performance, viewed by over 133 million people, perpetuated defamatory insinuations about him, despite the omission of explicit language from the live rendition.

The lawsuit claims that UMG orchestrated and promoted the performance to damage Drake’s reputation, citing incidents such as a shooting and break-ins at his Toronto home, as well as widespread online harassment.

UMG has dismissed the allegations as baseless, asserting that the lawsuit is an attempt by Drake to “save face” after losing a public rap feud.
