Wike recounted that during a conversation at the airport, Bala expressed concerns that Atiku would “kill him” politically if he won the election, prompting the need to support Tinubu. Subsequently, the G5 governors visited Bala in Bauchi to solidify this alliance. However, Wike alleges that Bala used this meeting to mend fences with Atiku, as he hosted another delegation led by Aminu Tambuwal the following day and distanced himself from the G5 group. ​
Wike emphasized the importance of character in leadership, stating, “Before you hold some position, you must be a man of character.” He also reaffirmed his commitment to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing rumors of defection and criticizing other governors for not investing in the party’s growth. ​
