LP Knocks FG For Rejecting EU’s Report

The Labour Party has lambasted the federal government for discrediting the European Union’s conclusion on the 2023 General Election.

DAILY POST recalls that the EU had in its final assessment and report on the 2023 general elections, declared that there were some irregularities in the last elections.

The EU observers stressed that the trust reposed in the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was damaged during the general election.

Reacting, the federal government, in a statement issued on Sunday by Dele Alake, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Special Duties, described the conclusions of the Electoral Observer Mission as “jaundiced”.

Tinubu Tasks Ribadu, S’Chiefs On Teamwork

President Bola Tinubu, on Monday in Abuja, urged the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Service Chiefs, and the Inspector-General of Police to work as a team to address insecurity.

Tinubu also assured them of his 100 percent support, considering the enormity of the work expected of them.

“He told us that we must work as a team and that there’s work to be done,” Ribadu told State House Correspondents after a closed-door meeting with the President and Service Chiefs at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

Tinubu is repeating a similar directive he had given to the immediate past Service Chiefs on June 1, where he declared that he would not condone them working at cross purposes.

Ejikeme Mmesoma, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi, Anambra State, who was accused of inflating her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result, has stated that the same result was printed from the JAMB portal.

SaharaReporters had reported on Monday that JAMB explained how it discovered that Mmesoma Ejikeme who paraded herself as the top scorer of the 2023 UTME forged her result.

This was disclosed by JAMB spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin during an exclusive interview on Monday.

Benjamin had said the candidate, Ejikeme, went to the extent of manipulating a text message sent to her from JAMB to cover her real UTME result.

The examination body said its investigation revealed that Ejikeme manipulated a result belonging to a 2021 UTME candidate, named Asimiyu Mariam Omobolanle, who scored 138 and edited it to 362 with her bio.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured the business community of his government’s commitment to policy consistency and better business climate to attract investment.

The President spoke Monday while receiving the delegation of the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) led by the Global Upstream Director, Ms Zoe Yujnovic, at the State House, Abuja.

Tinubu welcomed the SPDC’s offer for more investments in the Nigerian oil and gas sector, adding that such investments are needed now more than ever to enable the government to meet its obligations.

The President recalled that attracting fresh investment was “a promise I made personally to Nigerians. Whatever it takes, I will fulfil that promise to Nigerians.”
