The Presidency has refuted the European Union’s final report, which highlighted fault lines in the February 25 presidential elections.
“We strongly reject, in its entirety, any notion and idea from any organisation, group and individual remotely suggesting that the 2023 election was fraudulent,” a statement signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communication and Strategy, Dele Alake, read on Sunday.
On March 1, 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission announced Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the presidential election.
However, the results have been disputed by candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party, Peter Obi, who alleged that the process was far from credible.
Tinubu, Faster As Expected

Many of my readers across political and socio- cultural divides, have asked that I repeat this column again this week. And because of that, I humbly seek to postpone what was prepares for this week to next Sunday. I appreciate the appreciation. The new federal government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has truly hit the ground running ,hitting everywhere that needed to be hit and overhauling areas that need overhauling. Unlike the immediate past snail- speed government of former President Muhamadu Buhari that took almost a year before identifying areas that needed to be hit or overhauled, the Tinubu train has started moving. The speed with which he kicstarted his government has raised hope that at least, even if you are in court with him regarding the fairness and cleanliness of the Presidential polls, you will not be against the fact that he is one candidate that has something to offer. A common proverb has it that one cannot give a dog a bad nam
A common proverb has it that one cannot give a dog a bad name to hang it. Tinubu has started well by taking some actions, rightly or wrongly, but at least in his eyes as leader, can add value to governance. The removal of the fuel subsidy and that of electricity in the pipeline ,are policies that have been taken and biting hard on the people with severe consequences. The President promised to to do so during campaigns and he fulfilled his promised. What is left is his ability to make it work well for the comfort and convenience of Nigerians. Because of the bad economic situation on ground, Nigerians are giving time patiently to see how the harsh decision will translate into something better and prosperous, hence the present level of tolerance.
Secondly, the president has demonstrated sensitivity and commitment by sacking the security chiefs creating a good impression that a new and more vibrant structure will be put in place. His appointments are so far seen as more balanced that Buhari’s who picked all security chiefs from the north.
His dissolution of the rds and governing councils of all agencies and parastatals is another action being celebrated by Nigerians. This is because of the endemic politicisation that characterised the Buhari era.
Leaders continue to fail because Nigerians don’t protest – Political scientist

Political scientist and Head of the Department of Political Sciences, Chrisland University, Prof Babafemi Badejo, talks to EMMANUEL OJO about the political challenges in Nigeria and how to resolve them
You have been scheduled to deliver the maiden inaugural lecture at Chrisland University on July 5, 2023. What does this mean to you?
It is extremely important to me. It is in the British tradition. It is one of the greatest things about being a professor because you are to deliver an inaugural lecture. After you have been appointed a professor, you are expected to tell the world at large or at least the university community and beyond, the public and town about what you have contributed and still contributing towards the discipline in which you have been appointed. More or less, you can say it’s a kind of justifying why you were made a professor.
It’s not really a defence. Defence is for people that are doing their PhD. In an inaugural lecture, you just speak and nobody asks you any question. That’s the only time when as a professor, you have the freedom to say whatever you like. It is like a bishop on the pulpit every Sunday, who normally will preach his sermon and nobody will ask him questions thereafter. That’s the only time when a professor has the opportunity of speaking and nobody asks a question.
Why we don’t have Tinubu’s portraits in our offices – Abia gov.

The Abia State Government has explained the absence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s portraits in some of its offices.
The governor, Dr Alex Otti, dismissed claims that the absence was due to his administration’s none recognition of Tinubu as Nigeria’s President.
Otti was reacting to some online reports over the absence of the president’s portraits in some offices within the Government House.
Speaking on behalf of the governor, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, said the state government had the president’s portraits in some offices but not in all, adding that the same applies to the governor as well.
Sen. Obanikoro breaks silence on Tinubu’s economic reforms

A former Minister of Defence, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro has spoken on the ongoing economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Obanikoro said the reforms would in a few months make the country a strong player in the comity of nations.
He stated this in an interview with newsmen after a visit to President Tinubu on Saturday in Lagos.
According to him, a nation receives the respect and recognition it deserves in the international community only through its internal policies and programmes.
He, however, called on Nigerians not to expect a quick fix to the various challenges and the pains occasioned by the current reforms, saying good things do not come easy.
“When President Tinubu came in as governor in Lagos in 1999 and embarked on reforming the state’s economy, a lot of people were sceptical. About six months after the whole of Lagos was with us. The same scenario will play out soon in the country.
